Digital Photo Enlargement

Digital photography has never been so popular! if you know somebody who owns a camera then chances are it is a digital camera. Digital photography has changed the way that people take photos forever, at just a few clicks a photo can be taken and deleted. The problem with digital photographs is that we hardly ever print our images anymore. With ever expanding hardrives on computers and social networking sites such as facebook and flickr people often store hundreds and thousands of images without ever getting them printed. Once a photo has been stored and archived onto a harddrive its usually lost and out of eye until you decide to dig through your archives.

It is a real shame that people are no longer printing and enlarging their images. A photograph should be enjoyed by all who see it and it should make you smile every time you look at it. Enlarging photos can create a unique visual impact compared to a small 7x5 photograph. Photo enlargement should be used to set images free, Enlarged images can be framed and cherished to last a lifetime alternatively they can be used to create a unique visual impact at partys.

Photographic enlargement can now be printed onto various media. Photographic papers such as high quality glossy and satin papers are popular, this is usually printed onto 280 gsm paper which is similar to the paper that your 7x5 prints would be printed on from your local photo printer. Poster prints are usually printed onto a thinner paper usually around 120 gsm this type of paper is usually something that is disposable and not designed to last a lifetime.

Large format printing has also made canvas printing popular. Photo enlarging can also be used to print photographs onto outdoor banners to create promotional material.

There are so many possibilities with enlarging photos, Images should be printed and not stored with thousands upon thousands of images on a hardrive. theimagebox.co.uk specialise in photo enlargement amongst framing images and also canvas printing. Please take a look at the website for more information on photo enlarging. Set your images free with unique photographic enlargement services with www.theimagebox.co.uk.

Acrylic panels are incredibly durable and will not shatter like glass, this makes them ideal for public spaces. The metal standoffs that hold the acrylic panels together are usually held to wall by a screw directly into the wall therefor they are permanently fixed which makes them safe for public areas. Another advantage of acrylic photo frames is that they can be easily cleaned and wiped over.

Clean lines cool fixings and modern fixings make acrylic prints the ideal choice for anybody looking to make a real statement with a piece of artwork or image. The very nature of acrylic allows maximum light to the image which enhances the picture. With an acrylic photo frame the image is the part that stands out more than any part of the frame, the acrylic frame does not distract you from the centerpiece which is the image or artwork. With a traditional picture frame the frame can be very much as visually stunning as the picture it is displaying.

Photo Enlargement from old photographs

Many of us have old photographs of loved ones and of times that existed before we where even born. Old photographs can make fantastic gifts and should be cherished, many people do not realise the potential with old photographs and they are often left tucked in a draw or an old photo album.

Old photographs can now be given a new lease of life with many companies offering high quality photo enlargement services. With todays technology photographs older than 100 years old can still be printed and enlarged with amazing results. High quality scanning technology means that photographs can be scanned at incredibly high quality with a very high dpi. Dpi is the number of dots per inch, the higher the scanner resolution the better quality the enlargement will be.

Many of the top photographic enlargement companies will offer a high resolution scanning service and will advise you on the quality of the image.Once the image has been scanned and a digital version has been created photo restoration can then take place.

A digital artist or photoshop technician can then get to work to improve and enhance your old photograph before it is printed. Photo restoration can be a simple 10 minute job or can take many hours of skilled work depending on the damage to the image.

Dust and scratches can be removed from the photograph, Colour can be restored in some cases and and any damage to the image can generally be improved and repaired. Many people are often very surprised after an image has undergone extensive photo restoration as images can look almost brand new after the work has been done.

Always check if you are paying for photo restoration that you will be sent the edited file after you have paid for it, that ay you can then have it printed as many times as you would like. Some photographers offering this service will just offer to print it for you and charge excessive amounts.

After your image has been restored to all its glory it is then your decision to select the media at to what you would like the image printed onto. Photo enlargement can be printed onto high quality photo papers such as glossy or satin paper or it can be printed onto new media such as canvas or acrylic.

Canvas printing has become very affordable over recent years but there is one ting that needs to be taken into consideration before having the image printed. Canvas prints should always be done with pigment inks, this is because pigment inks will not fade in the sunlight and the photo on canvas will last for upto 125 years. After-all if your old photograph has survived for decades it is only right that your new photo enlargement should last just as long if not longer.

Acrylic prints are the newest in contemporary printing. Acrylic prints and acrylic frames can take many different forms but the most popular method is with acrylic sandwich frames. This is where your image is printed onto high quality photographic media and the sandwiched between two diamond edge polished sheets or 5mm acrylic. The acrylic panels are then held together with chrome standoffs.

If you are looking for a high quality photo enlargement service and looking to enlarge your old photographs then take a look at www.theimagebox.co.uk. They specialise in all types of photo enlargement including photo printing, photo restoration, photos on canvas and acrylic prints.

Acrylic frames, Ideal for wedding photography

So we are all set for wedding season and what is more than likely the busiest time of year for many wedding photographers. As the great British weather holds up for 2010 many couples will be wed this year and hundreds of thousands of stunning wedding photos will be taken.

Selecting the perfect images for wedding albums can be a daunting task for many newly wed but get even harder when they have to narrow it down for images to frame and display on the wall. Many photographers offer many different types of media for dispalying wedding photos, these include picture frames, canvas prints, foamboard mounts etc.

The latest trend for displaying wedding photos is with acrylic photo frames. Acrylic frames consist of two laser cut sheets of perspex held to together with chrome wall fixings (Standoffs). The laser cut sheets are diamond polished on the edges leaving the highest possible finish.

Wedding images are very popular with acrylic framed prints and this is because the material suits the style of image. Wedding images are always of the highest quality if they have been shot by a professional and for that reason they deserve the highest quality framing method available. The back panel of the acrylic frames comes in many different finsihes which suit modern photography, these include black glossy panels, white, clear and a new styel which is called opal.

White back paneled acrylic frames suit wedding images for obvious reasons and black acrylic panels suit any monotone photography. The new style is the opal panel, this is a semi transparent white panel sometimes referred to as a light diffuser. The opal panel adds a very subtle look to acrylic frames and often looks fantastic with wedding photos. As it is a semi translucent panel it allows light to shine through but blurs the detail of the wall that it is sat on therefore the entire focus is on the image framed within the acrylic.

As part of the new range of acrylic frames the Opal style acrylic photo frame has been added to the product range at theimagebox.co.uk. If you are looking for a quality way to frame your wedding photos and would like a modern look the acrylic photos frames are for you.

Canvas printing has become highly affordable over recent years and it is a great way of making sure those cherished images last a lifetime. Photographs onto canvas can last a lifetime but only if you buy from the correct company using the right materials.

What to look out for when buying canvas photographs online? There are a number of factors that are important to find out if you are looking at purchasing a photograph on canvas. Usually images are printed onto a cotton canvas or polyester canvas the later been the cheaper of the two. Polyester canvas is a cheap alternative to cotton, it usually gives a brighter colour than Cotton but it tends to look like a cheaper product. Cotton canvas is a natural product and for that reason has a more natural authentic look to it and gives great printing results. Also favored by some printers is a cotton canvas with polyester woven into it. This gives both a natural feel and provides the best colour definition.

One factor key factor to ensure your canvas prints will last for years is due to the inks that are used to print it. Companies use both die based inks and pigment inks. Die based are basically inks that die the material where as pigment inks are made from finely ground rocks. Pigment inks will not fade over time like die based inks and will last upto 150 years without fading. Pigment inks are Uv protective ensuring your image will not fade.

Amongst Uk canvas printing companies there are not many that still apply a giclee varnish. This is essential for two reasons. Giclee varnish applied to the canvas before it is stretched, this adds extra Uv protection to the image and ensure the image has a protective finish on it.

High quality canvas prints are out there at highly affordable prices but a little research is required before you buy. What grade canvas will it be printed on, What inks are used?, and does the canvas have giclee varnish applied to it?
